Internal hemorrhoids treatment for pregnant

Most of the reasons why hemorrhoids are caused are due bad eating and life style habits. But they can also be caused during and after pregnancy. It’s a condition in which the there is a formation of cushion of mass containing the veins that link the anus and the rectum. There is swelling in that part, is red in color and may cause severe itching, irritation and pain. It’s not surprising to discover that these lumps of flesh can often bleed and lead to an embarrassing situation to a person. Pregnancy accompanies a lot of medical problems along with it. Amongst these are hemorrhoids as well.

There are several reasons for the formation of hemorrhoids during pregnancy. One of the reasons is the weight of the fetus. The fetus exerts a downward pressure and adds weight to the body above the legs. The pressure is felt more over the veins that link the uterus, the anus and the lower body to the legs, leading to formation of varicose veins. Varicose veins are much swollen due to pressure and that the blood from the legs is not able to reach the upper body via the lower body in a comfortable manner, leading to less blood supply in these veins eventually leading to blisters inside the veins. Same thing happens to veins in the anus and the rectum. The extra weight of the fetus causes fissures in the anus and may cause bleeding. If proper care is not taken they eventually turn into hemorrhoids.

Constipation is another problem during pregnancy, which caused hard stools leading to damage of the inner mucosal lining of the anus and eventually internal hemorrhoids. Increasing levels of progesterone in the female body adds to the difficulty. The hormone causes all the veins in the body to swell, which means swelling of the veins in the anus and the rectum as well. Progesterone also increases the swellings of the intestinal veins causing constipation indirectly.

For pregnant ladies treatment is simple. Regular recommended exercises as recommended by the doctor coupled with creams and ointments to soften the anal area are the best thing to do daily. Pregnant ladies should increase the intake of fluids in the form of water and juices to soften the tissues. Fruits and vegetables along with whole grains and cereals should be given which are high sources of fibers. Taking more fibers in the diet helps in smoothing the stool so it doesn’t hurt the walls of the intestines as well as the rectum and the anus preventing further growth of hemorrhoids. Needless to say that the anal region should always be kept dry and clean to ensure that it’s free from bacterial infection. Pregnant ladies should use sitz bath filled with warm. They are designed in such a manner that a person can sit in them and are soothing. It’s always a better idea to apply ice covered in smooth cloth over the affected area and then sit in the sitz bath.

Overall treatment involves keeping the anal area clean at all times, smoothing the defecation, and not straining more while defecating.
