How To Treat Hemorrhoids In Children?
Is there a difference between hemorrhoids in children and hemorrhoids in adults? Hemorrhoids usually tend to develop with advancing age. Hemorrhoids can happen to children, too. Males are more prone to developing them than women, and this is true in case of children as well.
Although children suffer from hemorrhoids, in most cases they are not severe and the symptoms could be alleviated at home. Luckily, hemorrhoids with children usually go off with time and no medical treatment is needed.
What are the causes of hemorrhoids with children?
Hemorrhoids are known to be hereditary. If at least one of the parents has hemorrhoids the child would surely get it, no matter what stage of life. Pregnant women are very susceptive to hemorrhoids and if they develop the condition, I can be transferred to the child lately. A child could develop them from constipation because children are helpless in observing their stool habits. The medication applied to adults is in most cases ineffective with children. Since mostly adults suffer from hemorrhoids, there is no big choice of medication which could treat hemorrhoids in children.
What are the remedies for children with hemorrhoids?
Natural remedies are preferred with children because they are safe and they can give perfect results. Surgery is avoided in cases of children with hemorrhoids because of the possible adverse reactions and the immense stress they could afflict to a child’s mind. To treat hemorrhoids in children successfully, you should have in mind that:
• Children need plenty of raw vegetables and fruit in their diet. Taking more fiber foods will improve the intestines functioning to their best. A child’s everyday diet should include cereals, fresh juices, milk and lots of fruits.
• Children should be encouraged to drink as much liquids as possible – water, tea, milk. Avoid letting the children drink soft drinks. They contain no natural vitamins and will not enhance the child’s immunity. On the contrary, they can overload a child’s fragile organism with too much preservatives and chemical additives.
• Let the child take up some physical activity of his choice. Active movement helps improving blood circulation, tones the muscles up and boosts immunity. Good choice is soccer. Baseball, volley ball and basket ball are also recommended. The more intensive the sports activity, the more beneficial the effect on hemorrhoids cure and prevention is. Biking is not recommended for children with hemorrhoids because of the pressure it adds to the muscles in lower part of the body.

Perfect personal hygiene is obligatory. Always wash the rectal area after a bowel movement and dry it gently with a soft cotton towel. You can apply Vaseline on the affected area to alleviate the symptoms. If a child has had constipation for more than a week and has bleeding episodes from the rectum, perhaps he has hemorrhoids. If the symptoms are painful you can use topical analgetics to temporary stop the pain. Take the child to the doctor for an examination.
