Hemorrhoids Treatment

Increasing cases of Hemorrhoids lately have been a point of concern for the medical institutes and research centers. The disease is chiefly caused by bad life style habits like eating, drinking, sleeping etc. the occurrence of the disease has mostly been found in developed countries like the USA where a major population has suffered from the disease at some point in their life cycle. Governments of countries should start awareness programs and campaigns through television and newspapers ads, internet, conducting seminars and likewise.

Hemorrhoids are basically swelling up and inflammation of those veins and blood vessels connecting the anus with rectum. They form into a lump often causing pain and itching. Extreme cases also experience bleeding from them. Hardening of stool and not visiting the lavatory on time are the reasons for this medical problem.

Most of the People while working are always found to be under stress and they avoid going to the wash rooms for a longer duration of period. They have also shown to be reducing the amount of water intake. This leads to hardening of the stool. The hard stool in turn causes the soft inner mucosal membrane of the anus and rectum to rupture. Spasms caused due to contraction and relaxation of the anal muscles also called as sphincter muscles cuts off the blood supply to the mucosal membrane causing an ulcer which doesn’t heal by its own and needs medical attention. Proper and timely treatment will avoid further spread of ulcers.

There are lot of ways in which the hemorrhoids can be treated including traditional methods and modern medicines. Most of the traditional ways focus more towards the softening of the stool and reinforcing the walls of the anus and the associated muscles. Traditional treatments include using herbal lotions and creams, juices made up of leaves of a particular tree and the roots as well. Traditional exercises include and emphasize more on ergonomics that is the way you sleep, the way you walk and sit etc.

Modern medical treatments depend on the phase of the growth of the disease. If it is in the initial stages, doctors would try to cure using medicines to heal the fissures and softening the tool. These medicines will chiefly focus on improving and soothing the mucosal lining of the anal walls. There is no other option but to remove these hemorrhoids permanently if they have become more severe or chronic and not ready to heal through medicines. There are various means and ways to remove them including removing by cutting of the blood supply completely to the tissue so that particular tissue just withers away.

One of the techniques called as rubber band litigation uses the above principle. Another technique known as sclerotherapy involves injecting certain chemical inside the tissues which ensure dissolving their walls thus getting rid of hemorrhoids. There is also a technique in which electric shock is given to the tissue resulting in the tissue breaking away from the body. The more advanced is the laser technology though not very popular is the most effective.
