External Hemorrhoids Thrombosis

Hemorrhoids have changed the life style of many people around the world. The disorder is mainly limited to cities and urban areas due to a high pressure life style and stress. People normally don’t have time for personal health as they are involved too much in achieving their goals at work and do not know when fall an easy prey to medical problems like hemorrhoids. Swelling of the veins connecting the anus and the rectum and these veins forming a cushion of tissue in which they lie defines hemorrhoids.

Depending on their location hemorrhoids are of two types: the ones located outside the anal opening are known as external hemorrhoids and the ones located inside the anal opening are known as internal hemorrhoids. It’s quite difficult to diagnose the internal ones because there are no pain receptors inside the anal opening and the sphincter muscles and even the patient who suffers from it does not feel the pain. The only initial indication could be staining of the stool by blood. Everyone must observe the color of their stool and its size at least once rather than realizing late.

External hemorrhoids are located outside the anal opening and very easy to diagnose and treat at an early stage. They cause pain because of the presence of pain receptors and also the external ones are quite visible from outside. Hemorrhoids are always treatable in their initial stages. Later on when they start bleeding it has always been difficult tackling them. In the later stages there could be major problems with them which patients cannot even imagine. One of the problems is external hemorrhoids thrombosis.

Thrombosis is a condition in which the blood gets clotted inside the vein. The vein here is the one which is connecting the anus with the rectum. Clotting of blood could be because of two reasons. Firstly the anal area was not kept clean and there was a pathological attack. Bacteria and other germs have set inside the hemorrhoids and formed a clot inside the vein. These types of clots are very dangerous since they block the flow of blood worsening the situation by causing more irritation and pain.

There could be physical reasons apart from the pathological ones in forming the clot or thrombosis. Physical reasons could be change in the chemicals that form blood known as hypercoagulability, change in the composition of the cells that form a vein and also the changes in the pattern of flow of blood inside the veins. Thrombosis can be dangerous when the blood clots start moving in the blood stream freely and may bind and block somewhere probably the heart.

There are certain remedial measures which could be taken in order to reduce them or at least stop their growth. One must keep self clean and free from infection especially the anal region. It should always be kept well ventilated by wearing loose clothing and avoiding very tight cloths. One must include fibers in the diet to smoothen the process of defecation. And if one suspects he has the disorder, a doctor must be consulted immediately to avoid future problems.
